Windows 11 Security Program
Microsoft’s Windows security has come a long way. At first it was the wild wild west with no security, no protection and having to defend for yourself. Billions and billions of dollars was lost from attacks on large corporations. And millions of people began letting Microsoft know how they felt about their insistence on no security in the monopolistic Operating System.
Good Business Practices
Microsoft finally got the message and realized that it might be prudent of include a decent security program in order to stay in business. So, with Windows 7 Microsoft finally began packaging a decent security program. This was “Window’s Security Essentials”. Window’s 8 security program was named Windows Defender. This stayed the same through the beginning of Windows 10. Finally, the name was changed to Windows Security and has kept this same name through Windows 11. Mind you it still is the same basic security framework as Windows Defender just with a new name.
Watching a video is becoming the go to means of getting information these days. So, I am including a very informative video from Ask Leo’s YouTube Channel on the evolution of Microsoft security here:
As a Computer geek and computer repair person I personally basically only use Windows Security programs. I do not have any issues doing this. I rarely have any security issues unless I experiment with some website or download. I do include on client computers and mine Malwarebytes as a just incase option.
As a computer repair person I have not had a security issue in many years. People might think they have a security issue but usually these days it is something else.
I do not recommend disabling Microsoft Security unless you are using a 3rd party security program and it ask that you do that. But for all practical purposes Microsoft Security is enough for surfing the web these days.
And I am sure that what ever Microsoft Security evolves into it will be enough for surfing the Internet.
If however, you still have concerns about security breaches on your computer please feel free to contact me here about any concerns regarding your safety online.
