Meet John Zettel, Owner and Technician at PCRuns
When you contact PCRuns, you speak directly with the person who will examine and work on your computer.
I’m John Zettel, the owner and sole technician at PCRuns. I help Milwaukee-area homeowners and small businesses understand computer problems, protect important files, and decide whether repairing, upgrading, or replacing a computer makes the most practical sense.
My approach is straightforward: listen carefully, evaluate the computer, explain the options in understandable language, and obtain your approval before completing paid work or purchasing costly parts.
Local Milwaukee-area service is available by appointment. Pickup or a convenient public meeting location can be arranged.

A Personal Introduction to PCRuns
In this short video, I introduce PCRuns and the practical computer help I provide in the Milwaukee area. Although the video was recorded in 2019, the principles behind my service remain the same: personal attention, understandable explanations, reasonable options, and direct communication with the person working on your computer.
A Local Computer Service Built Around Personal Attention
PCRuns is a one-person business, not a chain store or a call center. You do not explain the problem to a salesperson and then wonder who is actually working on the computer. I handle the conversation, evaluation, service, and follow-up myself.
That direct relationship matters. Computer problems can involve family photographs, financial documents, business records, passwords, and other information that deserves careful handling. I use only the access reasonably needed to perform the work you approve and explain when a repair or recovery attempt involves uncertainty.
How I Became the Computer Person People Called
My computer experience began with the same kinds of frustrations that bring many customers to PCRuns: an aging system, poor performance, crashes, security concerns, and the need to understand what was happening instead of repeatedly replacing equipment.
I began learning how Windows computers work by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving my own systems. Over time, that included building custom computers, replacing and upgrading components, recovering operating systems, removing malicious software, configuring networks, transferring files, and helping other people solve their computer problems.
Friends and acquaintances began asking for help, and those practical experiences developed into PCRuns. The work continues to evolve as Windows, storage devices, security threats, accounts, and cloud services change. I keep learning because dependable computer service requires more than applying the same answer to every machine.
Repair When It Makes Sense—Replace When It Does Not
I enjoy repairing and improving computers, but that does not mean every computer should be repaired. Sometimes a modest storage or memory upgrade can restore years of useful service. In other cases, several failures, unsupported software, physical damage, or the probable repair cost make replacement the better decision.
I will explain what I find and give you an honest opinion based on the computer’s condition, your needs, the likely expense, and the available alternatives. The goal is not to sell the largest repair. It is to help you make an informed decision.
What You Can Expect From PCRuns
Direct Communication
You communicate with me from the first conversation through completion. There is no sales counter or separate repair department.
A Free Initial Evaluation
I begin by learning what the computer is doing and examining the likely cause before recommending paid work.
Understandable Explanations
I explain the problem and available options in plain language so that you can decide how you want to proceed.
Approval Before Paid Work
No paid repair or costly part purchase is completed without discussing the expected work and expense with you first.
Respect for Your Information
Your files, accounts, and personal information are treated carefully and accessed only as reasonably needed for the approved service.
Realistic Expectations
I explain important limitations and provide the most realistic estimate I can. Most service requires at least two days.

Review the Evaluation
I will explain what I find, discuss reasonable options, and identify important costs, risks, or limitations.

Computer Help for Homes and Small Businesses
Everyday Home Computer Problems
I help with computers that run slowly, fail to start, display unfamiliar warnings, have damaged components, need setup or upgrades, or contain files that may be at risk. You do not need to diagnose the problem before contacting me.
Practical Small-Business Assistance
A malfunctioning computer can interrupt appointments, billing, communications, and customer service. PCRuns offers cost-conscious assistance for small organizations that need understandable computer help without the overhead of a large IT provider.
Milwaukee-Area Service by Appointment
PCRuns does not operate a retail storefront. Service is arranged by appointment, with local pickup or a convenient public meeting location when appropriate. This keeps the operation personal and the overhead reasonable.
Services I Commonly Provide
- Computer diagnostics and Windows system recovery
- Data recovery guidance, file transfer, and backup planning
- Virus, malware, browser, and security assistance
- SSD, NVMe, memory, and other compatible hardware upgrades
- Slow-computer evaluation and performance improvement
- New Windows computer setup and configuration
- Laptop screen, hinge, and selected hardware repairs
- Password and account recovery assistance when ownership can be established
- Computer recycling and refurbishment guidance
Some problems require specialized equipment, manufacturer service, or a professional data-recovery laboratory. When a request is outside what PCRuns can reasonably provide, I will say so rather than promise a result I cannot support.
Standing Behind the Work
PCRuns provides a 30-day limited workmanship guarantee on the service performed. If the same problem returns because of PCRuns workmanship, I will inspect the equipment and correct the covered workmanship without an additional labor charge.
The guarantee does not cover unrelated problems, new hardware failure, software or account-provider changes, malware reinfection, physical damage, customer-made changes, or other exclusions described in the Terms and Computer Service Policies.
Tell Me What Your Computer Is Doing
You do not need to know the technical cause. Describe what you see, when it began, and whether important files are involved. I will help you determine the most practical next step.
