MILWAUKEE SMALL-BUSINESS COMPUTER HELP
Practical Computer Support for Small Businesses
A failed office computer can interrupt appointments, orders, billing, communication, and customer service. PCRuns helps Milwaukee-area small businesses solve everyday computer problems without the expense or complexity of a large managed-IT contract.
I’m John Zettel, the owner and technician. You work directly with me to understand the problem, compare practical options, and approve any paid work before it begins.
Service is available by appointment. Response time depends on current workload, parts availability, and the type of problem.

Personal Support Without a Sales Department
PCRuns is a sole-owner computer service—not a call center or a large managed-service provider. That can be a good fit for restaurants, neighborhood shops, independent professionals, and small offices that need understandable, cost-conscious help with a limited number of computers.
You receive a direct explanation of the likely cause, available options, expected costs, and practical limitations. If a specialized provider or replacement system would be more appropriate, I will say so.
Small-Business Computer Problems PCRuns Can Help With
Computer Won’t Start
Evaluate power, storage, Windows startup, updates, hardware, and other likely causes while considering whether business files may be at risk.
Slow or Unreliable Computer
Identify whether startup programs, insufficient memory, storage problems, overheating, malware, Windows errors, or aging hardware are interrupting normal work.
New Computer Setup
Prepare a replacement or additional computer, install appropriate software, apply updates, configure common settings, and discuss transferring accessible files.
Storage and Memory Upgrades
Evaluate compatible SSD, NVMe, and RAM options when an upgrade can improve capacity, responsiveness, or multitasking without overspending on an unsuitable computer.
Data Recovery and Backup
Attempt recovery from accessible or failing storage when appropriate, and help establish practical backup routines to reduce the effect of future equipment failure.
Virus and Security Concerns
Investigate suspicious behavior, unwanted software, browser changes, fake warnings, and other common security problems, then discuss sensible protective steps.
Support for Everyday Business Technology
Windows and Software Problems
Address common Windows failures, update problems, application installation, device setup, and configuration issues within the limits of the software license and vendor support.
Printers and Common Peripherals
Help connect and troubleshoot ordinary printers, scanners, monitors, keyboards, and other office devices when the problem can be reasonably isolated.
Computer Replacement Planning
Compare repairing, upgrading, and replacing aging computers while considering compatibility, required applications, downtime, budget, and migration needs.
Remote Help When Appropriate
Some software and configuration problems may be handled remotely when the computer starts normally, has a dependable internet connection, and remote access can be used safely.
What to Expect
Describe the Business Impact
Tell me what is happening, which computer or task is affected, when it began, and whether appointments, customer service, payments, records, or important files are involved.
Arrange an Evaluation
Depending on the situation, we can discuss local pickup, a convenient meeting location, limited on-site service, or remote assistance. Please include the power adapter with a laptop.
Review the Options
I will explain what I find, the likely next step, data considerations, expected cost, and whether repair, upgrade, replacement, vendor support, or a specialist appears most sensible.
Approve the Work
You decide whether to proceed. No significant paid repair or expensive part purchase is completed without discussing the expected cost with you first.
Reducing Downtime Before a Computer Fails
The least disruptive repair is often the failure that was anticipated. Small businesses can reduce risk with a few practical habits:
- Keep important business files in a documented backup system rather than only on one computer.
- Confirm periodically that backups are completing and that important files can actually be restored.
- Record which software, accounts, printers, and specialized devices each computer requires.
- Use supported versions of Windows and keep security updates reasonably current.
- Use multifactor authentication where available, especially for email, financial, administrative, and cloud accounts.
- Plan replacements before an essential computer becomes unreliable or unsupported.
- Keep recovery keys, licenses, and administrative credentials in a secure location controlled by the business.
PCRuns can help identify practical gaps, but no backup, security product, or maintenance plan can guarantee uninterrupted operation or prevent every loss.
Is PCRuns the Right Fit for Your Business?
A Good Fit
PCRuns may be appropriate when you have a small number of Windows computers, value direct personal service, need help with a specific problem or project, and do not require a full-time IT department.
A Larger Provider May Be Better
A managed-service provider may be more suitable when you require guaranteed response times, 24/7 monitoring, enterprise servers, complex networks, formal help-desk coverage, or support across many locations.
Specialized Systems
Point-of-sale, medical, accounting, industry-specific, and vendor-controlled systems may require the original vendor or a qualified specialist. PCRuns does not replace vendor support or certify regulatory compliance.
Emergencies and Deadlines
I will provide the most realistic timing available, but PCRuns does not promise immediate emergency response or guaranteed restoration by a fixed deadline.
Files, Accounts and Business Privacy
Business computers may contain customer information, financial records, employee information, credentials, communications, and other sensitive material. PCRuns uses only the access reasonably needed to perform the approved work and treats accessible information carefully.
The business remains responsible for deciding what information may be shared, maintaining appropriate backups, controlling user accounts, and meeting any legal, contractual, insurance, industry, or regulatory requirements that apply to its operations.
Passwords and recovery information should be shared only when necessary. When practical, a temporary account or supervised access may reduce unnecessary exposure.
Cost, Parts and Turnaround
Free Initial Evaluation
Begin by describing the computer and the business problem. If extensive diagnostics, recovery, installation, or other paid work is needed, the expected cost will be discussed before proceeding.
Parts Research
I can research compatible parts and explain reasonable choices. Expensive components may be purchased directly by the business after compatibility and seller terms are reviewed.
Realistic Timing
Turnaround depends on diagnosis, workload, parts availability, updates, data transfer, testing, and unexpected complications. Most non-emergency work should allow at least two days after the necessary equipment is available.
Clear Authorization
Scope can change when additional damage or problems are discovered. Any meaningful change in the proposed work or expected cost will be discussed before continuing.
30-Day Limited Workmanship Guarantee
PCRuns stands behind the installation and repair work it performs for 30 days after the serviced equipment is returned. If the same problem returns because of PCRuns workmanship, I will inspect the equipment and correct the covered workmanship without an additional labor charge.
This limited guarantee does not cover unrelated or newly developed problems, normal wear, manufacturer defects, customer-supplied parts, malware reinfection, customer or third-party changes, external services, business interruption, data loss, or failure of another component. Replacement parts remain subject to the warranty and return terms of their manufacturer or seller.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a monthly support contract?
No. PCRuns primarily provides project-based and problem-specific assistance by appointment. If your operation requires guaranteed response times, continuous monitoring, or a formal service-level agreement, a larger managed-IT provider may be a better fit.
Can you support more than one business computer?
Yes, when the number of computers, required work, timing, and technical environment are appropriate for a sole technician. Larger projects should be planned in stages to reduce disruption and allow proper testing.
Can you come to the business?
Limited local on-site assistance may be possible by appointment, depending on the problem, location, timing, and equipment involved. Some work is safer and more efficient when the computer can be evaluated and tested away from the active workplace.
Can you recover files from a business computer?
Recovery may be possible when the storage remains readable enough for a careful attempt. Results cannot be guaranteed, and severely damaged or highly valuable storage may require a specialized recovery laboratory.
Can you help choose replacement computers?
Yes. Recommendations can consider required software, peripherals, workload, Windows support, serviceability, budget, and the practical process of moving files and settings.
Do you guarantee that my business will not experience downtime or data loss?
No computer service can guarantee uninterrupted operation or complete recovery from every failure. PCRuns can help reduce risk, explain limitations, and recommend practical safeguards, but the business should maintain tested backups and appropriate continuity plans.
